چکیده

The thermal analysis and kinetics of bio-oils derived from swine manure/ crude glycerol co-liquefaction were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) in the air. It was found that the combustion processes of bio-oils can be divided into three stages, with most of the materials decomposing between 330 and 370°C. In kinetic calculations, oxidation of the bio-oils was determined using the Coats–Redfern method, considering that bio-oil combustion occurs in three consecutive steps. Four models including more than 12 alpha functions were tested to fit the study’s experimental results. The calculation shows that the diffusion models are the best fit for describing the bio-oil combustion process in the air.

Chemical properties of biocrude oil from the hydrothermal liquefaction of Spirulina algae, swine manure, and digested anaerobic sludge.

This study explores the influence of wastewater feedstock composition on hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) biocrude oil properties and physico-chemical characteristics. Spirulina algae, swine manure, and digested sludge were converted under HTL conditions (300°C, 10-12 MPa, and 30 min reaction time). Biocrude yields ranged from 9.4% (digested sludge) to 32.6% (Spirulina). Although similar higher ...

Subcritical hydrothermal liquefaction of cattle manure to bio-oil: Effects of conversion parameters on bio-oil yield and characterization of bio-oil.

In this study, cattle manure was converted to bio-oil by subcritical hydrothermal liquefaction in the presence of NaOH. The effects of conversion temperature, process gas, initial conversion pressure, residence time and mass ratio of cattle manure to water on the bio-oil yield were studied. The bio-oil was characterized in terms of elemental composition, higher heating value, ultraviolet-visibl...

Co-liquefaction of microalgae and lignocellulosic biomass in subcritical water.

This study investigated co-liquefaction of microalgae (Chlorella pyrenoidosa, CP) and lignocellulosic biomass (Rice husk, RH) in subcritical water for bio-oil production. The effects of liquefaction temperature (200-350°C), residence time (10-90min), solid concentration (10-30wt.%) and mass ratio of CP/RH on product distribution were investigated. The results showed that the highest yield of bi...

Liquid fuel generation from algal biomass via a two-step process: effect of feedstocks

Background In this study, a two-step processing method (hydrothermal liquefaction followed by catalytic upgrading) was used to produce upgraded bio-oil. A comprehensive screening analysis of algal species, including four microalgae and four macroalgae, was conducted to bridge the gap between previous accounts of microalgae and macroalgae hydrothermal liquefaction and the upgrading process of th...

R E N E W a B L E Energy from Swine Waste

A thermochemical conversion (TCC) process was developed and researched to reduce waste and to produce renewable energy from swine manure. Experimental results showed that operating temperature and retention time were the key parameters. It is critical that a process gas, reducing or non-reducing gases but not water vapor, be added to the process in order to yield an oil product. The operating t...
